We're thrilled to share some wonderful news with our Riley community! 🎉
Dr. Lilly Jay, a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized expertise in supporting families through their most vulnerable moments, has joined our Clinical Advisory Board. This exciting addition represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide comprehensive, empathetic, and evidence-based support to families at every stage of their journey.
Who is Dr. Lilly Jay?
Here's what makes Dr. Jay perfect for our Riley community: she combines serious expertise with genuine warmth.
Dr. Jay is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in exactly the stuff that keeps parents up at night (and not just because of crying babies). Her expertise spans:
- Child development and perinatal mental health
- Life transitions for adolescents, men, and women
- Advanced training in supporting parents through infertility, medical complications, and loss
- Certified perinatal mental health counseling (PMH-C) for mood and anxiety disorders
Dr. Jay completed a postdoctoral fellowship specifically focused on helping parents navigate some of life's most challenging moments - from infertility struggles to welcoming a child with medical needs, recovering from traumatic births, or processing the unthinkable loss of a child.
Even when everything goes "perfectly," pregnancy and parenthood can be as destabilizing as it is beautiful. Dr. Jay gets that, and she has the experience to prove it.
What This Means for Riley Families
Having Dr. Jay on our Clinical Advisory Board means we're enhancing our support in several areas:
- More nuanced resources for families
- Enhanced guidance for navigating the complex emotions of parenting
- Expert insights on supporting parent-child relationships
A Special Resource to Get You Started
Dr. Jay understands something many new parents struggle with: you can feel overwhelming joy and deep sadness simultaneously. New parents often ask, "Why do I feel so sad when everything is supposed to be joyful?" The truth is, joy and grief can live side by side in early parenthood.
You can be deeply grateful for your baby and quietly mourn the birth you didn't have, the version of yourself you've lost, or the future you imagined.
To help parents feel seen in this emotional complexity, we partnered with Dr. Jay to create a free resource for our community:
👉 "The Parenting Paradox"
Download your free mini-guide
This beautifully designed resource includes:
- Gentle prompts to name your emotions
- Insights on perinatal mental health
- Reflections from Dr. Jay herself
- And permission to feel it all
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, you'll see Dr. Jay's expertise integrated throughout our platform. She'll be contributing to our resource library, consulting on new features, and helping ensure our guidance meets the needs of families facing both typical parenting challenges and more complex situations.
Remember, parenthood isn't a straight line - it's a winding path with unexpected turns. With Dr. Jay on board, we're even better equipped to support you through every twist and turn with science-backed guidance delivered with genuine warmth and understanding.
